Godsmack, Sunday’s headliner and last to take stage closing the two-day metal festival, Aftershock put it down in true Alt Metal ferocity. With industrialized primal rawness, Godsmack raged like the heat of the earlier sun-soaked day, burning through their setlist at “1000hp,” leaving none “Cryin’ Like a Bitch.” The band poised and ready to discharge like a “Locked and Loaded,” M15 service weapon screaming,  “Keep Away,” they plunged into the set “Awake,” and feeling alive. After a little more than a year break, Sully Erna, Tony Rombola, Robbie Merrill, and Shanon Larkin are welcomed back by the uproar of fans with hands raised high, belting out each lyric and thrashing their heads about as if bewitched by the music. “Who out there will “Speak” of “VooDoo?”” is heard loud and clear as Larkin’s drum kit spins to the side and Erna appears atop a second and the “Batalla de los Tambores” begins. In the end as beads of sweat glistened off his brow and a slight smile on his lips, Erna was heard to say as he tossed his sticks to the sky, “Whatever,” comes of this night, “I Stand Alone.”
