Silverlake Conservatory of Music announced today that its founder, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea, and bandmate/frontman Anthony Kiedis will host a benefit for the school on Wednesday, October 30 in Silverlake, featuring special performances by Neil Young and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Proceeds from the evening will contribute to the Conservatory’s goal of purchasing a permanent facility and expanding their scholarship program.

“Going into our thirteenth year of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, flourishing with 700 students as a non-profit community music school, I could not be more grateful for all the people who have helped us out along the way,” said founder Flea. “Having one of my favorite musicians Neil Young perform to help out the school is the greatest blessing! This is gonna be the funnest fundraiser ever! All of us working together, making LA a better city, and educating the kids! Yay!”

The event will also include a silent auction where attendees can bid on an extensive collection of works from renowned artists Tim Armstrong, Cecily Brown, Justin Bua, Thomas Campbell, Suzanne Chorna, Autumn de Wilde, Jerry de Wilde, Shepard Fairey, Francesca Gabbiani, Kim Gottlieb Walker (Courtesy of KM Fine), Peter Harper, Damien Hirst, Heather L. The donation amount to attend the event is $2,000 per guest and tables of 10 are available for $25,000. Dinner will be catered by Heirloom LA, Intelligentsia Coffee, Bar Stella, and Silverlake Wine. All in-kind donations are fully tax-deductible.



The mission of Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, is to facilitate basic music education. Our primary focus is on the youth of the community, but all are welcome and encouraged to participate. The Conservatory offers private music lessons at a reasonable cost and grants scholarships to children in need, providing free lessons and instruments. The study of music enriches not only the life of the student but the community and society as well.
