rob-zom-nightmareIt’s back! The ultimate music and thriller fest returns today, Thursday, October 10, at the Fearplex in Pomona and continues Thursday–Sunday through November 2. Known for its blood-spilling, scream-inducing state-of-the-art haunted house attractions, the Great American Nightmare is also home to a music festival featuring solo artists and bands from the worlds of hard metal, rock, alternative, EDM and Latin music.

The fully immersive haunted experiences include three attractions based on Rob Zombie’s own horror films: Lords of Salem in Total Blackout (designed to twist the mind, it accentuates some senses while limiting others; fear of the dark and claustrophobia are preyed upon as visitors attempt to traverse  a 60-degree maze); The Haunted World of El Superbeasto 3 (utilizing Chromadepth glasses, this attraction takes visitors into the middle of Zombie’s El Superbeasto 2009 animated horror-comedy); Haunt of 1,000 Corpses (this traditional haunted house takes visitors on a journey through the “Museum of Monsters and Madmen,” along with an expanded “Murder Ride” using state-of-the-art animatronics, video effects, costuming, sound, scents and lights).

Want more? Freak show characters and the walking dead roam the grounds every night. Besides scaring you, the fright fest will host a ghoulish gathering of vendors offering food and drink. Nightmare’s main street, Bloody Boulevard, is the destination for even more events, including celebrity autograph signings by cast members from Sons of Anarchy, Kerry King of Slayer and photographer Jeremy Saffer (Till Death — A Guide to Love and Loss).

Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare music lineup includes Rob Zombie (closing out the event November 2), along with 3OH!3, 45 Grave, Andrew WK, Beware of Darkness, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Blood on the Dance Floor, Butcher Babies, Destroid (featuring Excision, Downlink and KJ Sawka), DirtyLoud, Dirtyphonics, Disco Death (featuring VJ Ginger Fish), DJ Bl3nd, Doctor P, Downlink, Duane Peters, Eagles of Death Metal, Emilie Autumn, Evol Intent, Fei-Fei, Ghost Town, Goldfinger, HeavyGrinder, Kottonmouth Kings, Lupe Fuentes and the Ex Girlfriends, Metalachi, Mod Sun, One More Time (a Daft Punk tribute band), LA favs Ozomatli, Powerman 5000, Reel Big Fish, TSOL, Terravita, The Dickies, The Used, The Vandals, Twiztid, Vampires Everywhere, Wallpaper, William Control, Winds of Plague and Zomboy.
