By Danny Coleman Monster Energy’s “Welcome to Rockville” Music Festival is taking northern Florida by storm as some of the loudest and largest bands will be performing over the two days of April 26 – 27 in Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville. Bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, The Cult, Rob Zombie, Korn, Five Finger Death Punch, Staind, and Seether will be playing loud and long over the 48 hour period; which also includes appearances by Lacuna Coil, Black Label Society, and Alterbridge. Aside from the outrageous line up, one of the features of the festival is Crazy Dave’s Music Experience. Musicians and non-musicians alike will have the opportunity to interact with demonstrators and actual equipment as they visit the exhibit. Rockville is the first of multiple other festivals across the country where Crazy Dave’s will set up camp during this summer concert series. The product of one man’s desire to bring, “The sickest music store in any direction…,” to Orange Park, Fla., the adventurous Dave turned what was once a failing pawn shop; into an “interactive music experience.” In this musical petting zoo, musicians of all skill levels can lay their hands upon omnifarious amounts of gear; much of which is identical to what their metal heroes are using on stage at the festival. Industry giants Dunlop, ESP Guitars, Fender, Hercules, Ibanez, Korg, Moog, PRS Guitars, and many more will all be present with representatives eager to engage all who stop in. Stop in have a chat, check out the gear and company history. There will be artist signings, Giveaways, possible on the spot recordings, discounted prices, and even VIP ticket upgrades. In a recent press release, Clay Busch, Head of Marketing for Danny Wimmer Presents, the company working in conjuncture with Crazy Dave’s promoting the festival said, “We are excited to keep growing the festival experience with everyone over at Crazy Dave’s Music. With public education and music programs losing government funding annually, it’s our responsibility to support creative artists and give them an outlet to learn, create and discover music with their favorite brands, rock stars and festivals.” With these coming together, the two entities have done exactly that. Bringing music to the masses in such an interactive way can only benefit all of those involved and perhaps encourage musicians of all ages to maintain or find the creative spark which can start a fire burning in the soul. “Welcome to Rockville” is the first of several large festivals where Crazy Dave’s will be hosting these sessions and exhibits. The Music Experience can also be found in Charlotte, NC on May 3 and 4 at “The Carolina Rebellion” and in Columbus, OH at “Rock on the Range” from May 16 – 18.
