Review by Danny Coleman

Emerge, the last release from New York based band Dog Society, was a great second effort from these former Atlantic Records recording artists. The group, which had previously had a great success touring with the likes of Sheryl Crow, Blondie, Stone Temple Pilots, The Fray and Daughtry; is ready to make a run at returning to prominence, and there’s no time like the present. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, that the boys are about to release their third studio disc entitled In The Shade, this Saturday, 10 p.m. at The Cutting Room located at 44 East 32nd. St. in NYC.

Joining Dog Society will be opening acts The Fearless and The Naturals as lead vocalist and front man Brian Schnaak promises me that this will be a great night of music. “If you’ve ever seen us or had any experience with previous Dog Society shows; just throw it right out the window,” said a very excited Schnaak. “This is a huge one for us; we’ve got extra musicians and it’s going to be an incredible night!”

Joining Schnaak, guitarist Bruce Erik Brauer, bassist Rich Guerzon and drummer Joe Ranieri will be Mike Cruz, Charlie Mafia and Chris Anderson. “We’ve even got a song with horns,” laughed Schnaak. “Chris Anderson is playing some insane trumpet parts; it’s just unbelievable.”

The band is extremely enthusiastic about this new release; Schnaak says that collectively, they feel that it’s “Their best yet.” “Dude! It’s good!…I can’t wait for you to hear it,” he said as he began to elaborate on the upcoming CD release party. “To me, I think this is a pivotal show for us. This album really is our best ever; it took us four months to record. We did it at Flux Studios; we recorded the entire thing in New York City in the East Village; we really can’t wait to get this one out there. The band and I are really psyched about this.”Dog Society

Getting the venue wasn’t easy at first but persistence and a little help from some friends paid dividends. “Our drummer Joe had just been featured in Modern Drummer Magazine and the editor Billy Amendola helped us out. Rich and I went there to see the Spin Doctors and we badgered them (laughs). We met with the club owner and got some additional help from another friend and we told him we’d pack the place and as it turns out; it looks like we are going to pack the place.”

Once the party is done, the band has no real plans to launch a lengthy tour, as of now they prefer to play some outdoor events and concentrate on garnering as much airplay as possible. “We just want to get it out there as much as possible. We are going to do as much as possible to get it out on the radio so people can hear it.”

Ticket costs are $15 in advance and $20 the day of show. To purchase tickets, please go to http://thecuttingroomnyc.com/ or to discover more about Dog Society please go to www.dogsociety.TV
