For the past 25 years, Keith Valcourt has worked as a music professional in various positions and aspects of rock and roll. In 1988, Keith took his first music business gig as a college rep for Captiol-EMI Music in Boston. From 1989 to 1997, Keith worked at Capitol-EMI Records in various positions including field marketing rep, branch marketing rep, artist development rep, local radio promo guy and corporate presentation specialist. He left Capitol-EMI to pursue a stand-up and sketch-comedy career in 1997. A chance meeting at The Comedy Store in 2004 led to Keith becoming the Comedy/Music/Games & Gadgets Editor at Larry Flynt Publications in Beverly Hills. His writing and editing have appeared in hundreds of magazines worldwide including Larry Flynt’s flagship publication, Hustler magazine. As Music Editor, he interviewed hundreds of music and film luminaries including Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Ice Cube, William H. Macy, William Shatner, Sammy Hagar, Ace Frehley, Lita Ford, Cherie Currie and director Kevin Smith. In 2011, Keith became the West Coast bureau chief for Rockerzine.com, a site dedicated to “aging hipsters” and the artists they dig. At Rockerzine, he interviewed everyone from Mike Nesmith to Mick Fleetwood to The Misfits and dozens more. He is also a contributing writer at RetroRoadMap.com. In addition, Keith has appeared as an actor on dozens of TV shows including The Office, Retired at 35, The Exes and General Hospital. Keith is thrilled to contribute to TheRockRag.com.
