Interviewed by Kimberly Annette

When The Rock Rag sat down with Logan and Roger Raskin in May to film this interview, there was no plan to do a series of webisodes, but by the time we wrapped we had such in-depth footage, how would we ever be able to reduce to a 10 minute video for our audience and still keep the fantastic stories, background information, and the true nature of who the Raskins are? So we decided on a series of webisodes. The project has been long in production, but the first is finally here, to be followed weekly with the second, third and fourth upcoming videos.

In this webisode, “Meet the Raskin” Logan and Roger describe what it was like growing up in a house filled with the music of their parents. Their father  Tommy Raskin starred on Broadway in greats like “Damn Yankees,” “Oklahoma,”  Guys and Dolls,” and starred as Tony in “Westside Story.” Their mother, Judy Lee was a jazz singer with a notable powerful voice who worked with incredible songstresses as Billie Holiday and Sara Vaughn. The twins take us on a journey through their childhood, what it was like growing up in such a music rich environment and how their diverse musical background influenced who they are as musicians today.

At The Raskins record release party in May The Rock Rag had a chance to enjoy the results of their musical upbringing, an evening of engaging entertainment and smoldering rock, clean and pure. The Raskin twins are electric on stage as if they belong there. With a background like theirs it is not hard to come to the realization that these two are doing exactly what they were meant to do.

You can find a copy of The Raskins self-titled debut album, The Raskins, released on May 13th, 2014, on Miral Records on CD  or downloadable version on iTunes and Amazon. This summer you can find The Raskins out on tour in support of Motley Crue and Alice Cooper which kicked off on July 2nd and runs to November 22nd.
