laidbacksurfer_H5A7704The dust billowed up to the sky in big brown dust clouds. Of Mice and Men in an upheaval of heated molten metal guitars beckoned to the 17,000 plus screaming fans flowing from in front of the stage at Aftershock. Metal mayhem unfolded from within the jumping swirling mass.

Of Mice & Men’s intense lineup, Austin Carlile, Aaron PauleyAlan Ashby, Phil Manansala, and  Valentino Arteaga fanned the flames with deep screaming vocals, ferocious guitars and feverish rhythms.  With fists and ram’s horns raised the surging mass of syncopated motiOf Mice and Men at Aftershock 2014on raged like the sea during a violent thunderstorm. Crowd-surfing bodies floated atop the human seething mass, bobbing with the current as one after another splashed over the edge of the pit into the open waiting arms of the mountainous security team.

Of Mice and Men’s screaming brand of fuel burning metal saw one of the most active head banging participations of the day. The fuels of the set included “Public Service Announcement,” “O.G. Loko,” “The Depths,” “Bones Exposed,” and “You’re Not Alone.”
