Derek Trucks - The Allman Brothers BandClose your eyes and let your mind take you back to a soft spring day many years ago when the music was inviting, the bands cared about the songs, and all the things that surrounded you let you know that this day was going to be special. A day like this years Peach Music Festival…..days worth remembering.

For connoisseurs and auteurs of the melodic jam oriented genre, the 2013 lineup will be vivid in both sound and style. The southern drenched Black Crowes will perform many hits and bring Otis Redding back to life. Famed guitarist of the Grateful Dead, Bob Weir, will play with his band Bob Weir and RatDog  and come back to the stage for a solo acoustic session. Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule will undoubtedly electrify the audience as they have been doing for the last 20 years. Other notable performances will include, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jaimoe’s Jasssz BandGrace Potter and the Nocturnals, and of course the intrepid Dirty Dozen Warren HaynesBrass Band.

Looming large over the festivities will be the 2 night performance of the Allman Brothers Band. The Allmans are one of the few distinctive bands in the history of music that have defined the rock and roll experience. They have unswervingly paid the tolls for musical greatness and yet fearlessly delved into the depths that one must be committed to in order  to define a genre as The Allmans have.

From their first jams in 1969 right up to today, the Allman’s have persevered. Sad partings of band and family members, federal persecution, Hollywood paparazzi are all relevant to the band’s history. Yet, despite these difficulties, the Allmans have constantly risen above adversity and created a steely amalgam of intricate blues, complex jazz, and hard-bitten rock that has come to define but not limit the sound most often known as Southern Rock.

The Allmans were newcomers to the music scene when they formed in 1969, but by 1971 their live shows at the Fillmore East were legendary. It has been 42 years since then but they have not missed a beat. Good people have come and gone from the Alllman’s stage, but the distinctive sound they have created has not only remained relevant and enduring but has continued to influence scores of fans and musicians alike. Taking the stage this year will be frontman Gregg Allman, with Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks on guitar, Oteil Burbridge on bass, and Jaimoe Johnson and Marc Quinones performing percussion duties.

Peach Fest 2013 promises to be a intense arena of sound and life that offers something for everyone. Don’t be shy… Eat a Peach.
